Mad Stalker: Full Metal Force - Remake of the "classic" obscure X68000/Fm Towns/PCE CD game. Nekketsu Oyako - Only transparencies over the Saturn version, 'cause the later was an improved version of this game, so I'd go for the Saturn one. Tenchi o Kurau 2 - Akakabe no Tatakai - A solid conversion from the arcade but still inferior to the Saturn one IIRC (I forgot about the details, sorry). Original and arranged soundtracks included. JP-only.Ĭaptain Commando - Very good beat'em up up to 3 simultaneous players. Pu-Li-Ru-La - Arcade Gears - Funny, bizarre and controversial but actually it's a good game. Gundam: Battle Assault 2 - Better than the previous one but I still dig the first game a lot more.

Gundam: Battle Assault (Gundam: The Battle Master II) - Still good but a step down IMO. Gundam: The Battle Master - I don't know exactly why but I really prefer this one over its sequels, maybe it's something about the music and sfx. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - One of the good Capcom ports on the system. If you dig the anime characters, you'll love it (several videos and all).

Tatsunoko Fight - Just another good fighting game, nothing really outstanding. Shaman King: Spirit of Shamans - Funny little game. Street Fighter Alpha 3 - A bit inferior to the Saturn version but with better quality music. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo - Doesn't suffer with the slowdowns present in the Saturn version. Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha is better on the Saturn, though. Street Fighter Collection - Super Street Fight II Turbo doesn't suffer from the Saturn's version weird frame rate hiccups. Street Fighter Collection II - Doesn't have the minor layer scroll bug of the Saturn version. The King of Fighters '98 - Very solid port with very few cuts compared to the original game and the other ports on the system. Still, it's fun to play and has good responsive controls. WWF Wrestlemania - The Arcade Game - I don't see any cuts compared to the Saturn version, but both lack in-game music and have some long loadings. Samurai Spirits - Kenkaku Yubinan Pack - Very solid ports of the first two Samurai Spirits games. Samurai Deeper Kyo - Something like a generic Samurai Spirits/Bakumatsu Roman rip-off but still worth playing. Kidou Senki Gundam W - The Battle - Cheap remake of the SNES game, but plays very well. Kidou Butouden G Gundam The Battle - Cheap remake of the SNES game, but plays very well. Gouketuji Ichizoku 2 - Chottodake Saikyou Densetsu (Power Instinct 2) - Pretty solid early fighting game on the system. Gokuu Densetsu - Magic Beast Warriors - Cheesy as fuck and using some weird FMV backgrounds, but controls work well and it's actually a funny game. Tons of fighters and more options but less simultaneous players (4 vs 6) compared to the Saturn game.

JP-only.įire Pro Wrestling G - Rivals with the Fire ProWrestling S: 6Men Scramble on the Saturn. Despite the slowdowns and the muffled voices it's still awesome. JP-only.īakumatsu Roman - Gekka no Kenshi (The Last Blade) - We all know it's an awesome game. Some backgrounds were slightly simplified in comparison to the Real Bout Garou Densetsu Special on the Saturn. Real Bout Garou Densetsu Special: Dominated Mind - Designed around the PS1 hardware, so the game loads really fast, plays great and has an extra character. Real Bout Garou Densetsu - It's hard to see any disadvantage here in comprison to the Saturn version, except for the longer loadings. Mortal Kombat Trilogy - Better than the expensive Saturn version. Mortal Kombat 3 Surely it's not arcade perfect but it's far superior to the 16-bit renditions. Great graphics and a exclusive zooming effect option (similar to Art of Fighting).

In terms of content, it puts the 32X version to shame but the loading times can be a detractor, as the midi tunes based on the already poor PC renditions. Mortal Kombat II - Much better and less buggy than the Saturn version but still quite far from the arcade. Sorry for not ALL of them being 2D, but even still I'd think you'd get fun out of the ones that aren't, especially Ore no Ryouri. Though chances are you've heard of a lot of those. That's about all that come to mind, I can't really think of too many US games that you wouldn't have heard of by now, though I do recommend Spider the Video Game, which is not mentioned too often. Gussun Paradise (Bubble Bobble style game) Vib Ribbon (music rhythm game by the people behind Parappa the Rapper) Lattice E207 (doesn't really fit into a genre, but I guess shooting?) Goemon Shin Sedai Shuumei (2.5D platformer, personally my favorite of the PS1 Goemons) Ganbare Goemon Oedo Daikaiten (2.5D platformer) Ganbare Goemon Uchukaizoku Akogingu (platformer) Ore no Ryouri (doesn't really fit into a genre but incredibly fun) The Adventures of Little Ralph (platformer)
